Campus and Student Life and the Office of the Provost are seeking student applications for a number of important positions and committees/ boards for the 2023-24 academic year.

These positions provide students with the opportunity to work directly with faculty and staff, better understand University governance, and provide student input on important matters affecting the University.

Board of Campus and Student Life

Board of Campus and Student Life is a statutory board that receives updates from Campus and Student Life about programs, resources and initiatives that support students and provides input to CSL and the Provost’s Office on matters affecting campus and student life at the University. Undergraduate Student Government and Graduate Council each appoint a representative to this board from within their organization.

Independent Review Committee for the University of Chicago Police Department

Independent Review Committee for the University of Chicago Police Department reviews citizen complaints of abusive language, violation of rights, excessive force, and dereliction of duty brought against the UCPD. Following its review, the committee may also comment on related policies as well as recommend procedural and communication changes. The Committee is seeking three students to serve a term of one academic year. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 14 at 5 p.m.

The Office of the Provost’s Accessibility Student Advisory Board

The Office of the Provost’s Accessibility Student Advisory Board serve as liaisons between the Office of the Provost and students regarding the accessibility of the University of Chicago campus and issues specific to students in the University community with disabilities. The purpose of the Student Advisory Board is to provide student perspectives and input on programs and initiatives pertaining to accessibility and individuals with disabilities.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, August 1 at 5 p.m.

The Office of the Provost’s Sexual Misconduct Advisory Board

The Office of the Provost’s Sexual Misconduct Advisory Board is a group of students that meets monthly in order to serve as a liaison between UChicago CARES (The Center for Awareness, Resolution, Education, and Support) in The Office of the Provost and undergraduate, graduate, and professional students regarding sexual misconduct. The purpose of the advisory board is to provide student perspectives and input on policies, procedures, and programs pertaining to sexual misconduct. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 14 at 5 p.m.

University-wide Standing Disciplinary Committee on Disruptive Conduct

University-wide Standing Disciplinary Committee on Disruptive Conduct is a standing committee appointed by the Office of the Provost and includes faculty, staff, and students specifically tasked with addressing reported allegations that a student has engaged in disruptive conduct, i.e., conduct that falls outside of the principles of free expression and meets the definition supplied by Statute 21. The Committee is seeking students to serve a term of one academic year. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 14 at 5 p.m.

University-wide Student Disciplinary Committee

University-wide Student Disciplinary Committee is a standing committee appointed by the Office of the Provost and includes faculty, students, and staff specifically educated to resolve formal complaints under the Policy on Harassment, Discrimination, and Sexual Misconduct. The Committee is seeking students to serve a term of one academic year. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 14 at 5 p.m.
