Section A: Excused Absences/Make-up Participation Points

Using the Attendance and Flexibility Consideration Rubric, I have determined that:a student with a disability may miss class for disability-related reasons beyond the number of allowed absences on the syllabus. Additional information is required.
The maximum number of excused absences without penalty permitted:
Additional details or exceptions to allotment: Because this course is discussion- and workshop-based, there is a strict attendance policy in which any unexcused absence will result in an automatic deduction from the final course grade. I consider a registered disability to be proper grounds for excusing absences, and therefore I will waive the automatic grade reduction in this case. Absences should be as infrequent as possible, but absences will not result in a direct grade deduction provided that the student is able to find time to meet with me via Zoom to cover any missed class lectures, and provided that the student is able make up for any missed in-class contributions by contributing their thoughts in writing on our Canvas discussion boards, as stipulated below.
Plan for make-up participation points, if applicable (e.g. .submit additional blog posts on Canvas):If the student misses the lecture portion of my class, then they can attend office hours that week (or at their earliest availability) and I will explain any concepts that they missed.

If the student misses a group discussion of assigned reading/listening material, then during office hours I will fill them in on the highlights of any students' insights that they might have missed, and they will post their own additional contributions to this discussion via our discussion boards on Canvas.

If the student misses a workshopping session of a fellow student's creative writing or songwriting assignment, then in lieu of the verbal feedback they could have given in class, they will instead post their feedback to that material on a discussion board on Canvas.

If the student needs to miss a class in which they had signed up to present their own material, then we will make every effort to reschedule the presentation of that material on a different day. The student should give at least two hours' notice of the change of plans so that I can rearrange my lesson plans accordingly, but I understand that this might not always be possible.
Please explain why absences beyond the number allowed in the syllabus is not a reasonable accommodation.

Section B: Deadline Extensions for Assignments

Important Notice to Students: The consequences outlined for the class for missing the deadline applies to the adjusted deadlines for the student using this accommodation.
Using the Deadline Extensions Consideration Rubric, I have determined that:deadline extensions are not applicable in the course
Applicable assignments (check all that apply):

If applicable, please detail the notification plan for requesting assignment extensions.
Please explain why deadline extensions beyond the number allowed in the syllabus is not a reasonable accommodation.
