Students Disability Services provides support for students with injuries which impede their ability to attend to academic obligations. Services may focus on classroom support or on campus transportation needs.
We recognize that students with temporary conditions resulting from injuries, surgery, or short-term medical conditions may need access to services and resources. However, it is important to remember that these conditions do not fall under the same guidelines as permanent disabilities. We will work with you, your Dean of Students, and your instructors to provide appropriate classroom assistance, such as note-taking assistance in the event of a broken hand or arm. Services are determined on a case-by-case basis. Students are encouraged to contact the office to inquire about the types of services that may be available.
An injured student who needs transportation should contact Transportation Services at 773.795.6108 or firstname.lastname@example.org between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (except holidays). Service should be requested at least 24 hours in advance of when service needs to begin. In the interim, students should arrange other transportation options. Pickup and drop off times may vary depending on service demands. Injured student transportation will be provided for the injured students but not for a third party.
Injured student transportation will be provided to and from:
• Perimeter of the Main Quadrangle Pedestrian Zone (MQPZ)
• Campus libraries
• University of Chicago Medicine for medical treatments
• Campus dining locations
More information on accessible transportation is available on the Transportation Services page.
